Description
The first retrospective show to approach author of “Sazae-san”, the original world of Machiko Hasegawa!
Newspaper serialization is started in 1946 in the next year of the end of the war, and “Sazae-san” brought about by hand of Machiko Hasegawa invites memorable year in birth 70 of this year. We hold exhibition to introduce life of Machiko Hasegawa who is author of “Sazae-san” that continues being loved as national comics on behalf of Japan by wide generation and the rich original world that is not known to.
Including the original picture of approximately 100 pieces that chose from 4 top comics “Sazae-san” published serially in the Asahi Shimbun for long term, it is retrospective show “to confide Sazae-san, and to look back toward work of Machiko Hasegawa with the valuable original picture and publication paper until story” at one sweep of comics, besides, essay-style sketchbook before and after debut of Machiko Hasegawa and initial work, activities such as the making of picture book which ran side by side with “Sazae-san” serialization, real kicks comics such as “apron woman” and “maliciousness grandma” who published serially in weekly.
You make your debut as woman comic artist, and come to first whole country patrol exhibition to read look and achievements of national comic artist, Machiko Hasegawa left in cultural history of Showa carefully by all means.
Machiko Hasegawa (1920-1992)
It was born in January 30, 1920. For 34 years of the next year when father died, it is gone to Tokyo in family of mother and three sisters by Fukuoka. We are apprenticed to Suiho Tagawa and make our debut with “aspect of raccoon dog” in the next year. For 46 years, it is started “Sazae-san” serialization in Fukuoka of evacuation by evening paper fukunichi. We move to the Asahi Shimbun for 49 years and publish serially for long term until 74 while sandwiching suspension of publishment. In other masterpieces “apron woman” “maliciousness grandmas.” We die in 92. The same year, People’s Honor Award.
Machiko Hasegawa Museum
Machiko Hasegawa is opened as Museum displaying possession collection which we collected with Mariko of older sister in Tokyo, Sakurashimmachi, Setagaya-ku in 1985. After death of Machiko Hasegawa, we establish corner displaying works such as the original picture and ceramic art or picture in watercolors of comics work which Machiko created permanently. We hold “animation Sazae-san exhibition” every year in summer.
