Curator’s Talk: Regina Barunke “Institution building as a curatorial act”

from solo exhibition "ONE-self" by Danish artist Sidsel Meineche Hansen, 2014

Higashiyama Artists Placement Service (HAPS) will invite Regina Barunke, artistic director of the Temporary Gallery in Cologne, Germany, to talk about her curatorial practice. In the talk Barunke will give an insight in her curatorial practice while running a non-profit, informal and independent exhibition space dedicated to contemporary art practices and discourses. The activities of the Temporary Gallery center around inviting outstanding international as well as local artists, curators and researchers who wish to engage collaboratively in both the transformation and realization of their projects, and in the construction of the institution itself. While working with a small institutional structure, the talk will question and made consider institution-building as a curatorial act in itself.
