Komatsu Biennale 2019: 5th Miyamoto Saburo Award for Original Sketch “Pioneering New Expressions”

【Application Overview】
The forms derived from pen strokes can express the artists’ thoughts and beliefs, while revealing a broad range of unique possibilities. Miyamoto Saburo, a master of sketching, once said “Even a mere sheet of paper and the humble stick of charcoal is more than enough to begin successfully capturing the essence of a subject.” Whether through sketch or otherwise, this competition arose as a way to seek rich artistic expressions. We seek to push the limits of expression from the very first stroke; discovering new techniques and creativity, carving the path towards the future.
