Description
Ihee Kimura (1901-1974)
Tokyo birth. We were interested in photograph since it was small and, in 1922, opened photo studio in home. In 1930, we obtain camera of Leica and start activity as professional photographer in advertisement section of Kao Corporation. Distinguish itself by snapshot of downtown area of Tokyo that announced to magazine “photograph”, “literary person portrait photo exhibition by Leica”; in afterward as “master hand of Leica trainer” is appointment for Chairperson Japan Photographers Society first generation achievement in 1950 through postwar period in prewar days. As amateur leader, we promote “realism photograph motion” with Ken Domon.
Foreign tour was extremely difficult in few Japan, and interval was after the war far-off dreamland where capital Paris of art was far, too. Ihee Kimura who had long-cherished coverage in Europe realized for the first time in 1954 (Showa 29) is visit to France in hand by camera of Leica and domestic production color film which was just developed. In Paris, deepened friendship with photographer Henri Cartier = Bresson and photographed Paris positively. In Paris visited again in the next year, we photographed French Revolution’s Day with that photographer Robert doh – and turned around. He was able to look at cityscape of live Paris and drama of general public of downtown area in this way. Paris expressed unique color is introduced by Arles international photograph Festival or Paris city hall photo exhibition after the war after half a century and will receive evaluation international some other time. By book exhibition, you see charm of Paris at the time of going from approximately 130 points of color works.
