Description
We are pleased to announce a solo exhibition of Masaharu Sato. We will
exhibit his two-dimensional art pieces produced with a digital tracing technique.
Born in Oita in Japan in 1973, Sato received an M. F. A in pai nting at Tokyo
University of the Arts in 1999. He studied sculpture at the Kun stakademie in
Düsseldorf, Germany from 2000 to 2002.
Sato precisely traces the frame of video footage with a softwa re pen to produce
hundreds of frames needed for a single animation. This tim e-consuming,
seemingly pointless process results in the subtle difference with reality that
gives Sato’s animations their unique and inrtriguing quality.
This solo exhibition is concurrent with an exhibition at Hara Museum of Contempoary
Art in Tokyo, “Hara Documents 10: Masaharu Sato -Tokyo Trace”.
