Description
Birth of “Thomas the Tank Engine” which continued being loved all over the world began from story of steam locomotives which we told because clergyman Wilbert Awdry who was the author cheered up son in bed for disease. The story was published as “The Railway Series” in 1945, and it was in popular book of children in the U.K. in a moment. By one four episodes are sent to 26 volumes for approximately one year, and this series that locomotives play an active part on the stage of sodo island is translated in all the countries of the world, and it wins popularity. We are published as the “picture book series of train” in Japan in 1973 and are loved reading as longtime seller picture book.
Because it was not so proud to draw picture, painter that cut made a specialty of was in charge of clergyman Wilbert Awdry of the author. By book exhibition, we display approximately 170 points of picture book original pictures which painter (Reginald DALVEY, John T Kenny, Gunvor Edwards, Peter Edwards) of three sets of four drew. We display model vehicles of locomotive used for cut (Clive supongu) of picture book of the series that son Christopher of non-publication in Japan succeeded elsewhere, photography of the TV series and exhibit the world of “Thomas the Tank Engine and friends”.
