Description
Tomio Koyama Gallery Kyoto is pleased to present Function Dysfunction, a group exhibition of new functional and sculptural works by Adam Silverman, Alma Allen, and Ani Kasten at both spaces of TKG Editions Kyoto and TKG Ceramics. Silverman and Kasten will present these works in ceramic, while Allen will show wood and bronze bowls and bronze sculpture. All three artists work along the line between function and sculpture. Each makes clearly functional work, but that is “sculptural” and very expressive. As well each employs the same materials and methods to make sculpture. Their investigations into the materials and methods of making for sculptures, often later inform their functional work, and vice versa. This is the first group exhibition that will feature the encounter of the rich worlds of the three artists, all of who addresses nature in their own ways.
